A Frosty Adventure: Snow, Stars, and Substance Free Living

The Live Well Kalkaska Substance Free Coalition and Kalkaska Conservation District joined forces once more, to build a captivating float for the Annual Christmas in Kalkaska Lighted Parade. The float, a wintery camping scene, featured students, members of the community, the Conservation District, and the Coalition, roasting marshmallows around a cozy campfire, surrounded by twinkling Christmas trees. This whimsical scene highlighted the organizations’ dedication to providing and promoting healthy outdoor recreation and fostering a stronger community. The procession included walkers carrying banners that declared, "Community Partners Working Together for a Healthier Tomorrow."The Kalkaska Sheriff’s Office, unable to participate due to community obligations, generously offered space to build and store the float. In the spirit of giving back, the Kalkaska Coalition donated straw bales, originally purchased for the parade, to the Kalkaska Animal Shelter for winter use.

Funding for website expansion and improvements made possible through Prevention Network and with monies from SAMHSA's Substance Abuse Block Grant COVID Supplemental.
