In September, members of the Live Well Kalkaska Substance Free Coalition attended Michigan’s 24th Annual Substance Use and Co-Occurring Disorder Hybrid Conference. The 3-day conference, which was held in Lansing, was attended in person by coalition members Suzanne Prentice and Belinda Mercado. The Conference touched on many different aspects related to substance use disorders and mental health. Some of the topics covered in the many different sessions were coalition strategies, capacity building, and promotion, updated substance information, prevention and harm reduction education, and state and local policies and changes in policies. In a continuing effort to build and maintain a resilient community, the Kalkaska substance free coalition is persistent in educating themselves to effectively provide their community with current and relevant substance use prevention information and education.
