Giving Thanks for Community

It is said that the opposite of addiction is connection. LIFTsgiving is a perfect example of connection! This event is hosted each year by Leelanau Investing for Teens (LIFT) for students enrolled in their after-school programs at any school in the county. LIFT staff cooked a tasty traditional Thanksgiving meal with all the traditional dishes. We watched holiday movies, played board and card games, got silly with the whipped cream, made a chalkboard word collage of what we are thankful for, and delighted in the food and good company. There were plenty of leftovers for kids to take home for the long weekend too! Developing relationships and resilience with the youth in our community alongside our partners is something to be thankful for, indeed!
