STR8 TALK Educates Through Personal Stories

Alcona middle school and high school students were on their feet for the recent STR8 TALK presentation, covering the perils of youth substance misuse and the benefit of a substance free lifestyle.  The high-energy, interactive program had students’ attention and participation within moments of the opening song by Corey Warren,  the storyteller in recovery.  The program also featured the first-hand experience of Jacque Liebner, Executive Director of WAI-IAM, Inc and RISE Recovery Community, who also happens to be Corey’s Mom.  The program connects to students by telling stories about experiences that many of them have already had, the importance of self-love, and how the choices we make can affect our lives.  This was the first time that STR8 TALK was at Alcona schools, and the students are already asking when they’ll be back.
