It's been a busy summer of prevention activities in Montmorency county! Up North Prevention partnered with school administration and the board of education at Atlanta Community Schools to update their Athletic Polices pertaining to their banned substance policies. The policies now include more educational opportunities if a student is caught violating the policy.
August 15, 2023, capped off a summer long Students Leading Students course for some Montmorency students. The Montmorency students along with students from Alpena, Alcona, Presque Isle, and Iosco counties met at camp Ocqueoc for two hours of strategic planning for events and initiatives that they will take back to their schools for the upcoming school year. The day ended with team building activities, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. The growth that the students have displayed over one summer and the level of responsibility that they have pledged to take on is truly impressive.
