The Live Well Kalkaska Substance Free Coalition and the Kalkaska Conservation District have teamed up again to offer fun, healthy, and educational activities to Kalkaska youth. In June, the two non-profit organizations took 20 Kalkaska youth biking, with the help of Coach Tyler from Norte and Kwin from Twin Birch Golf Course and Restaurant. Norte provided bike and helmet rentals for youth who needed them, bicycle education, and adjusted bikes for the right fit. Twin Birch Golf Course and Restaurant provided lunch and the trails. The coalition picked up any costs and the Conservation District helped to coordinate the event. All participated in chaperoning, mentoring, and educating Kalkaska youth. Healthy activities lead to healthy mental and physical health, ultimately teaching healthy alternative activities to substance use.
